The Financials Modernization Project has completed the initial Planning Phase of the project which focused on creating awareness and understanding around the impact of implementing a modern financial system.

Opportunities for building awareness and engagement with the University's business community are an important part of a successful implementation. During the initial Planning Phase, we engaged the University business community in gaining a better understanding of central and campus business processes, identifying opportunities for improvement, and capabilities of a modern financial system. We appreciate the demonstrated commitment from the community in this phase:

  • Over 200 financials stakeholders participated in solution demonstrations with 36 colleges and divisions represented
  • Approximately 80 responses were received to the Campus Business Process Survey
  • 33 campus and central units participated in business process interviews with 28 colleges and divisions represented
  • 17 Deans engaged in conversations with a Financials Modernization Executive Sponsor
  • 105 primary and secondary liaisons, representing 67 colleges and divisions, were identified

Further details of the initial Planning Phases can be read on the Resources page of the Financials Modernization website. The outcomes of these activities, as well as future opportunities, will be used as we develop the Request for Proposals (RFP) and enter a formal selection process for the financial solution and implementation services. We will continue central and campus collaboration through representation on the Evaluation Committees and opportunities for participation, including solution demonstrations, Business Process Standardization Sessions and Chart of Accounts (COA) Definition Workshops.

We look forward to substantial engagement with your areas and the campus financial community as we continue to take steps towards modernizing our financial system.
